About The Midland Wine and Spirit Association

The association was formed way back in 1905 when a group of independent Midland wine & spirit merchants got together to talk and discuss issues relating to the trade.  In the 105 years since then the trade has, of course, seen many, many changes although as an association we still try and hold up the original values as set out in our rules.

Our main aim today is to promote the Midland wine & spirit trade with informative tastings and social events and to keep our members up to date with current legislation, whilst trying to raise as much money as possible for the Wine Trade Benevolent – our chosen trade charity.

We have close links with all of the major trade bodies, the Wine & Spirit Trade Association, the Wine & Spirit Education Trust and other regional trade associations, all of whom our members are free to contact for advice and information.

Our main annual event is our lunch open to members and guests which takes place on Shrove Tuesday of each year following our Annual General Meeting.

For more information on what our association can do for your business, terms of membership and details of social events, please contact our Honorary Secretary via the links page.
